10 Seasons of IPL in Numbers

It’s that time of year where cricketers from all across the world are in India to compete in the most coveted Twenty20 league in the world. The Indian Premier League began on its eleventh season when Chennai Super Kings inaugurated the season with a bang over defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 7.

Here is a statistical report of how the first ten editions went(Team Record’s Only).

League has given us six different champs in its initial ten years, with Mumbai winning the title thrice (2013, 2015 & 2017), while Chennai and Kolkata Knight Riders with two events each.

Team records

The highest team total, as well as the lowest, belongs to one team – Royal Challengers Bangalore. On April 23, 2013, they posted 263 for 5 against Pune at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, while exactly four years later, on April 23, 2017, they were all out for 49 against Kolkata at the Eden Gardens.
