After the conclusion of 34 matches of the season, no cricket lover would have asked for more than what we have witnessed. It’s been a rollercoaster ride with power-packed games, chartbuster audience, consistent scores, some exceptional bowling and last over finishes. The Sunrisers Hyderabad are up against the Delhi Daredevils in the 36th fixture of the season.
While the Orange army is ruling the top of the table, the double D’s are languishing at 7th place. It looks like Sunrisers will easily make the playoffs needing just a couple of wins, but Delhi will need to win all of their remaining games to ensure their chances of making it to the top four. Shreyas Iyer leading the charge instead of Gautam Gambhir seems to have brought some fortune for the team as Delhi have won 2 of their last 3 matches. While Shreyas Iyer is performing as a leader scoring 307 runs striking at an exceptional 154.27, Risabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw have also been outstanding. But, they have too many problems to look after. Maxwell, Munro, and Roy haven’t been able to make much of an impact. The bowlers also haven’t been up to the mark except for Trent Boult.
On the other hand, Sunrisers have been the best bowling side and the worst batting side this season. All of their bowlers have been substantial contributors. They have been able to defend 151,132 and 118 in their previous three encounters, where their spearhead of the bowling attack- Bhuwaneshwar Kumar was not even playing. Their batting hasn’t been great which seems clear by the fact that they haven’t been able to score over 180 this season. But, it hasn’t had any influence in their form, courtesy of their exceptional bowling.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar missed the last couple of games with a back injury. He might return this Saturday as the captain said that the injury wasn’t much frightening. Glenn Maxwell has failed to live up to the expectations of the team and the fans which have been one of the major issues of the DareDevils. With Shreyas, Risabh and Prithvi all firing with the bat, he might take the unlikely step of dropping Glenn Maxwell and bringing in Daniel Christian. From another side of the picture, Liam Plunkett has been expensive in his last 2 games, so they can replace him with Junior Dala or the young Nepalese leggie Sandeep Lamichanne to strengthen their bowling.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Shikhar Dhawan, Alex Hales, Kane Williamson (capt), Manish Pandey, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Siddarth Kaul
Delhi Daredevils: Prithvi Shaw, Colin Munro/Jason Roy, Shreyas Iyer (capt), Rishabh Pant (wk), Glenn Maxwell/Dan Christian, Vijay Shankar, Junior Dala/Sandeep Lamichhane, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult, Shahbaz Nadeem
It is certain that it will be a tough contest between Sunriser’s exceptional bowlers and Delhi’s young batsman. But, with the home advantage and bigger momentum of winning their last 3 games, Sunrisers are likely to be victorious once again and strengthen their chances of reaching the playoffs.
